Zero covid deaths recorded in Sheffield and South Yorkshire as UK vaccinations top 30 million

There have been no deaths of people with Covid-19 recorded in Sheffield and South Yorkshire today as the country recorded its lowest total since September.

The Government said a further 17 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Monday in the UK – the lowest daily figure since September 28.

It brings the UK total to 126,172.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies for deaths where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificate, together with additional data on deaths that have occurred in recent days, show there have now been 149,000 deaths involving Covid-19 in the UK.

The Government also said that, as of 9am on Monday, there had been a further 5,342 lab-confirmed cases in the UK.

It brings the total to 4,301,925.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock today thanked those involved in the vaccine rollout after the total number of doses administered passed 30 million.
