‘Stay safe’: Sports club forced to close after worker tests positive for Covid-19

A sports club in South Yorkshire has been forced to close temporarily after a member of staff tested positive for Covid-19.

Wombwell Main Community and Sports Association in Barnsley announced that the club would be closed this weekend and said close or direct contacts of the person affected would be contacted by NHS Test and Trace.

Posting on its Facebook page, the organisation wrote: “Due to a confirmed case of Covid 19 from a member of our staff, we have been advised that we need to close the club this upcoming weekend.

"As advised, only their close or direct contacts need to be contacted by track and trace, therefore this does not apply to the majority of our customers at this present time.

"However, if you are concerned and/or have symptoms and wish to take a test, you can book one online and follow the guidance. Thank you for your understanding and stay safe.”
