Sheffield's coronavirus death toll rises as 209 more people die at hospitals across England

Another four coronavirus deaths have been recorded at hospitals in Sheffield during the last 24 hours, the latest figures show.

A total of 234 people with COVID-19 are now confirmed to have died at hospitals in the city up to Sunday, May 10, at 5pm, according to data published this afternoon by NHS England.

Across England, another 209 hospital coronavirus deaths were confirmed today, taking the number of confirmed deaths at hospitals within England to 23,359, while the total number of people known to have died with COVID-19 in the UK now stands at 32,065.

Elsewhere in South Yorkshire, 121 patients at Donaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals Trust have now died with coronavirus and there have been 131 hospital deaths confirmed in Rotherham and 103 in Barnsley.

At least 126 people are known to have died with coronavirus at care homes in Sheffield up to April 24, according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics.
