Latest coronavirus infection rates in Sheffield and South Yorkshire with one area above 300

The coronavirus infection rate in Sheffield is continuing to fall and is now only slightly higher than the national average.

The infection rate is also falling elsewhere in South Yorkshire, with only Barnsley having recorded more than 300 cases per 100,000 people in the latest week.

In Sheffield, there were 1,510 new cases of Covid-19 confirmed during the seven days to November 19 – the latest date for which reliable figures are available – giving a weekly infection rate of 258.2.

That’s down from a rate of 309.5 for the previous seven days, and only slightly above the England-wide rate of 240.7.

In Doncaster, the latest rate is 271.9, down from 373.8; in Barnsley it has fallen from 409.9 to 302.2; and in Rotherham it has reduced from 390.0 to 278.8.

All four areas remain in the top 100 out of 315 local authorities nationally, with Barnsley in 67th place, Rotherham 80th, Doncaster 84th and Sheffield 92nd.
