How many people have died from coronavirus in Sheffield as Tier 3 lockdown looms

The latest Government data has revealed the total number of coronavirus fatalities in Sheffield since the pandemic hit.

No fewer than 442 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have now died in the city within 28 days of a positive test. Of that number, 12 people died in the seven days to 18 October as the overall number of positive cases continue to rise.

Death registration data shows 588 deaths have been registered in Sheffield with coronavirus on the death certificate, meaning the illness is assumed to have caused, or contributed to death.

The data also shows that 1,191 people with coronavirus in the North East and Yorkshire were admitted to hospital between 12 and 18 October, up by 253 from the week before.

There were 2,475 positive coronavirus cases recorded in Sheffield during this period, down 227 from the week before. Three hundred and sixty-two positive tests were confirmed on Sunday (18 October.
