Full list of shops which are still open in Sheffield city centre during the coronavirus lockdown

But many shops there remain open to supply customers with food and other essentials during the COVID-19 crisis.

Sheffield Business Improvement District has shared this updated list of city centre shops which are still trading, together with their latest opening hours.

New supermarket opening times and 'special hours' for elderly and NHS workers for Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Aldi and Morrisons

The information is correct as of Thursday, April 2, but is subject to change and although the list seems pretty comprehensive, there may of course be other businesses which remain open.

Visitors are reminded to follow government orders to only travel when essential, and it should be noted that many of these stores may be closed on Easter Sunday, April 12, with Sunday trading hours likely to apply on Easter Monday, April 13.

SUPERMARKETS AND FOOD RETAILERS

ALDI

All day everyday key workers in the NHS, Police and Fire Service will take priority ahead of queues into Aldi stores upon showing a valid ID. This is in addition to early access on a Sunday, where they can enter stores 30 minutes prior to opening.

Shopping rules:

Buying limits are being lifted on all items apart from some essentials - shoppers can buy four items of hand wash, toilet roll, certain canned goods and alcohol, and can only purchase two of antibacterial gel, UHT milk and baby formula.

City centre stores include:

Aldi, St Mary's Gate - 8am - 8pm (10am - 4pm Sundays).

COOPERATIVE FOOD

All stores have dedicated hours for vulnerable or elderly people and NHS workers - this is between 8am to 9am on Monday to Saturday, and between 10am to 11am on Sundays.

Shopping rules:

Customers can only buy two items of any product and one box of eggs.

Multi-buy deals are also suspended to deter customers buying excessive amounts.

City centre stores:

Co-op Food, Angel Street - 7am - 8pm (11am - 5pm Sundays).

Co-op Food, 72 Broad Lane - 7am - 8pm (11am - 5pm Sundays).

HERON FOODS

Elderly, vulnerable people and their carers can visit 9am-10am for priority shopping. NHS workers have priority in the last hour of trading - normally 5pm-6pm.

Shopping rules:

Iceland has put limits on some essential items like hand soap and wipes.

The store's delivery service has been limited to those over the state pension age.

City centre store:

Heron Foods,19-21 Haymarket - 8am - 6pm (9am - 5pm Sundays).

ICELAND

M&S (FOOD HALL ONLY)

M&S Food Hall on Fargate remains open for essential food and products

NHS workers are given priority access to M&S shelves on the first hour of Tuesday and Fridays. Elderly and more vulnerable customers have a priority shopping hour reserved every Monday and Thursday.

Shopping rules:

The store has rationed its hand sanitisers and antibacterial products to two items per person.

City centre store:

M&S Food, 19 Fargate - 8am to 5pm (11am to 5pm Sundays).

SAINSBURYS

NHS ID holders have priority Monday to Saturday 7:30am to 8am. Elderly customers, carers and disabled customers have priority Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8am to 9am.

Shopping rules:

Products are limited to three per person, while essential items like toilet paper are restricted to two per person.

City centre stores:

Sainsburys Local, 27-29 Division Street Street - 7am - 9pm.

Sainsburys Superstore, 76 The Moor - 8am - 8pm (11am to 5pm Sunday). Note this store opens at 7.30am for NHS employees only Mon-Sat.

TESCO

NHS workers have special access to Tesco stores between 9am to 10am on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays- they also have access to browsing in store an hour before checkouts open on Sundays. 9am to 10am Monday, Wednesday and Friday is designed vulnerable customers.

Shopping rules:

Tesco has a purchase limit of three items per product and has removed multi-buy promotions.

Some Express stores are restricting essentials like milk and eggs to one per customer.

Supermarket giant Tesco has not banned children from the store but it is asking people to shop with no more than one other person.

Argos has closed its standalone stores but branches in Sainsburys supermarkets remain open including the one at Sainsburys at The Moor.
