Coronavirus: Fourth person dies from Covid-19 in Sheffield

The information was released by NHS England today (March 24), as they confirmed 83 people in the country have died from the illness in the last 24 hours – the biggest one-day rise so far.
The Sheffield death was the only one recorded in South Yorkshire for this period. The total number of confirmed reported deaths in England now stands at 386.

Hide AdNHS England said all of the 83 patients who died were aged between 33 and 103 years old and were in vulnerable groups, including with underlying conditions.
Their families have been informed.
Kirsten Major, Chief Executive, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said: “Sadly, we can confirm that as of March 24th 2020, 4 patients being cared for at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals have died after testing positive for COVID-19.
“The families of these patients have been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this very difficult time.”
She added: “We have been asked by some of the families of the patients who have died to respect their privacy and not give any further information about their loved ones. We will therefore only release details of further patients who pass away if their families request us to do so.”
As of yesterday (March 23), there were 106 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Sheffield – the highest in Yorkshire. An update on that number will be provided later today.
