Our pictures celebrate just a tiny few of the people of all ages who have been reaching out to help others in all sorts of ways. They represent all the other hidden heroes and helpers who have made the pandemic that much more easy to cope with. We salute them all.
5. Keeping people safe
Staff at Bradfield School in Sheffield, pictured here, and Birley Academy were among those who used their equipment and expertise to make thousands of face visors for frontline health and care workers at the beginning of the pandemic, when there were problems with PPE supplies. Photo: Sam Booth
6. Food for kids
Pitsmoor Adventure Playground, pictured, was one of many community organisations, pubs, cafes and chip shops that helped to provide free meals for the children of poorer families during lockdown. Others delivered food to keep our frontline workers fed. Photo: Steve Ellis
7. Imaginative fun
Groups such as Ignite Imaginations made up and delivered art packs to keep the children of hundreds of vulnerable Sheffield families entertained when schools had to close during the pandemic. 8. Craft skills
Tobias Weller isn't the only fundraiser at Paces School - others include Jack Mitchell, who has been busy in his shed throughout lockdown making wooden clocks, candle holders and other gifts and has raised £2,700 towards the appeal to build a new school.
