A survey by South Yorkshire Integrated Care Partnership found that the difficulty in getting a GP appointment was “frustrating formany”.

“It was recognised that if access to GP services was offered in the right way then there would be fewer people using accident and emergency services.”

Data found that Sheffield came out on top for offering same day GP appointments, with 36.75 per cent of patients seen same day, whereas Barnsley only offered 33.67 per cent same day appointments.

Doncaster and Rotherham offered 36.28 and 35.33 per cent respectively in October 2022.
