Sheffield school issues statement after teens leave 'used condoms and beer bottles' on field

High Storrs school also urged residents whose gardens back onto its field to alert police if they become aware of trespassers or antisocial behaviour in the area.

It comes as residents reported seeing between 30 and 40 teenagers on the field on Thursday and Friday night. One woman said she saw people smash beer bottles against goal posts, leaving shattered glass on the pitch where her 11-year-old son plays football. Another woman said she saw a teenage boy lying ‘semi-conscious’ on the field after reportedly drinking too much alcohol.

Five bags of rubbish were filled following a litter pick on Saturday morning, when used condoms were found among other items. The field is regularly used by families, dog walkers and children playing.

A statement from the school said: ”We want to make clear that there should be no activity on our school site, including the field, other than that run by High Storrs staff during usual school hours (Mon – Fri, 8.30 – 3).

“We strongly encourage local residents to alert the police if they become aware of trespassers or antisocial behaviour in the area.”

Volunteers also filled eight bags of rubbish in nearby Endcliffe Park on Saturday morning after nitrous oxide canisters, cigarette butts, bottles and pizza boxes were left there following several reports on social media of a ‘large party’.
