The Bents Green secondary warned police have received reports of “an adult male approaching and attempting to engage young people in conversation” on recent evenings.
The letter reads: “We have been asked by the local policing team to make parents and carers aware of a recent concern in the Chelsea Park / Nether Edge area.
“Police have received reports of an adult male approaching and attempting to engage young people in conversation near the park.
“We are asking our community to remain vigilant and to ensure that young people are aware of personal safety advice when travelling to and from school or when spending time in the area.

“With the darker evenings approaching we would encourage parents and carers to have a conversation with their child about staying aware of their surroundings and walking with others wherever possible when travelling to and from school.
“We also advise avoiding secluded areas and reporting any interaction that makes them feel uncomfortable to a trusted adult.
“The police are continuing to monitor the situation. We are sharing this information purely as a precaution and to support the safety of our students.
“If your child has any concerns or information they would like to share, please encourage them to speak with a member of their pastoral team or contact the police directly.”
Chelsea Park, on Brincliffe Edge Road, is around a mile’s walk from High Storrs School.
South Yorkshire Police was contacted for a comment.
