Council promise to search for poison at popular Sheffield park 'as soon as possible' after warnings appear
Visitors have been warned of rat poison in a popular Sheffield park
Searches will take place after signs appeared at a popular park warning visitors of rat poison - with the council confirming they are not behind it.
The laminated paper signs appeared on fences at Chelsea Park, in Brincliffe Edge, on April 14 and warned of ‘rat poison blocks’.
Now, Sheffield City Council have confirmed to The Star that they were not the ones to place the signs and will be investigating the matter.

A council spokesperson said: “The signs have not been displayed by Sheffield City Council.
“Council staff will check the park for any obvious signs of poison as soon as possible and remove the signs.”
The voluntary group Friends of Chelsea Park were also contacted and raised concerns about the situation, flagging it to council officers.
Online, concerns have been raised about the safety of pets, especially as the park is used by dog walkers.
Signs also warn of pellets being found in nearby gardens.
“Rat poison blocks found in Chelsea Park this morning,” the sign reads.
“Found at bottom entrance on Chelsea Road near first tree on right.
“Also found in gardens on Brincliffe Crescent.”
The Star reached out to Nether Edge and Sharrow ward councillor Maroof Raouf, who described the situation as ‘totally irresponsible’ as he promised to investigative matters.
