Steel industry leaders unite to tackle future of British manufacturing at UK summit
Sheffield Forgemasters’ boss will join other steel industry leaders to examine how decisions on trade, energy and investment could affect the whole country
The leaders of four major steel businesses are coming together to discuss the implications of reindustrialisation for the wider UK economy.

CEOs from Tata Steel UK, British Steel, 7 Steel UK and Sheffield Forgemasters are due to take part in the Steel CEOs Roundtable: Reindustrialisation, Trade and National Growth at The NEC Birmingham.
Gary Nutter, CEO of Sheffield Forgemasters, will be among the participants in the debate, which comes as the industry considers trade policy, industrial electricity costs, procurement rules and investment in domestic production.
The businesses hold significant positions in the UK industrial economy, with decisions affecting not only steel production but also manufacturers, engineering businesses, infrastructure projects and companies across the supply chain.
Lord Redesdale, Chair of UK Metals Expo, said: “Bringing the leaders of Tata Steel UK, British Steel, 7 Steel UK and Sheffield Forgemasters together give us a valuable opportunity to hear how they see the future of UK industry.
“But this is about much more than steel. Decisions on industrial capacity, trade, energy and investment have direct consequences for manufacturers, engineering businesses and the wider supply chain. They affect the cost and availability of materials, the resilience of supply and the UK's ability to support its own industrial base.”
UK Metals Expo 2026 will be held at NEC Birmingham on November 4 and 5. The Steel CEOs Roundtable is scheduled for 10.30am on November 5.
