Fresh drone footage shows the current state of ski village site as new plans unveiled
Watch as fresh drone footage shows the current state of ski village site
This jaw-dropping drone footage shows what an overgrown Sheffield Ski Village site looks like following the announcement that major investment could be coming its way.
The new aerial footage has captured the current state of Sheffield’s former Ski Village, showing how nature has reclaimed the site after almost two decades of disuse.

The 51-acre site at Parkwood Springs has been largely derelict since the hilly attraction was destroyed by a devastating fire in 2012.
From above, thick vegetation can now be seen covering parts of the former complex, with trees and undergrowth growing where buildings and ski facilities once stood.
The remnants of the old ski runs and tracks can also still be picked out across the hillside.
The original Sheffield Ski Village opened in 1988 and attracted visitors from across the North and Midlands before its eventual closure and destruction.
The site has been subject to a number of redevelopment attempts over the years.
Plans were first announced by Sheffield City Council in 2017, followed by a £25m deal with Extreme Destinations in 2018.
That agreement later ended after proposed access arrangements were deemed too complex.
In 2023, Parkwood was awarded £19.4m from the Levelling Up Fund for a new access road, clean-up work and new mountain bike trails and paths.
The latest footage comes as fresh plans are being developed to transform the long-neglected site and bring activity back to the hillside.
