Padel venue to open at Meadowhall in Sheffield as craze continues to grow
“We're a Sheffield founded business, built by Sheffield people, and the community got behind us from day one”
A padel venue is set to open at Meadowhall next month as the craze continues to grow.
Play Padel Meadowhall will be opposite AirHop trampoline park on Vulcan Road and have eight courts, changing rooms, a cafe, bar and warm-up gym.
It is set to open at the end of October.
It will be the company’s second venue after Play Padel Sheffield opened at Abbeydale Tennis Club in March 2025.
Alex Fleming, founder and CEO of Play Padel Group said: “We're a Sheffield founded business, built by Sheffield people, and the community got behind us from day one. Meadowhall is the next step, but it won't be the last.
“We've got big ambitions to bring padel to venues right across the UK, and everything we've learned in Sheffield goes into making each new club even better. As an operator, we're just getting started.”
Darren Pearce, centre director at Meadowhall, said: "We’re really looking forward to the opening of Play Padel Meadowhall next month, it’s always important for us to support businesses founded in Sheffield and we’re proud to be part of their next chapter.
“Padel is one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, and with eight new competition-grade indoor courts launching, there’ll be even more opportunities for people across the city and region to get involved.”
