It sells greeting gards, gift wrap, home décor, candles and stationery, among other items.

But Meadowhall has confirmed the branch will shut for good in August. A spokesperson for the shopping centre said: “This is part of a wider programme of store closures by the brand across the UK.”

Mooch’s Meadowhall store has had mixed reviews from customers, with one fan calling it a ‘lovely gift shop’ but other shoppers describing the items sold there as ‘overpriced’. It has an average rating of 3.5/5 stars from eight Google reviews.

Despite the impending closure of Mooch, things are looking up at Meadowhall, with a number of recent and upcoming store openings.

New and upcoming shop openings at Meadowhall

Zara recently relocated to a huge new unit, while Mango and Townhouse Nails have also opened at Meadowhall in the last few months.

A new Frasers department store and Sports Direct are also set to open later this year on The Avenue, while Kiko makeup and Rituals cosmetics shops are among the other new arrivals coming soon.

British Land recently sold its 50 per cent share in the shopping centre to the Norwegian firm Norges Bank Investment Management in a deal valuing the Meadowhall Estate at £734 million.

Darren Pearce, centre director at Meadowhall, said: “This is an exciting time for the centre, with the opening of our new, bigger and better Zara store last week, and the brand-new Frasers department store opening on The Avenue later this year.”
