Recruitment has started at planned four-screen attraction

The new Crystal Peaks cinema is on the way - with jobs at the planned new facility now being filled.

Recruitment has started for the jobs at the four-screen facility, in the south east of Sheffield, which is due to be run by CineChapters Ltd.

Adverts for the positions are currently being hosted on two websites.

The are listed on Glassdoor and Indeed.com.

Cinechapters has yet to confirm the exact opening date of the screens.

But the firm has also revealed new details of the sort of films it will be showing.

The ads state that cinema team members will receive a zero hours contract, paying £8 to £12.71, and they will also receive an employee discount.

They describe the venue as a brand-new independent four-screen cinema that is opening in the heart of Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre, Sheffield.

The adverts state: “We'll bring the best of mainstream film, National Theatre Live screenings, and carefully selected indie and arthouse programming to our community. We're passionate about film and hospitality, and we want to be a real cultural hub for the area.

“As we get ready to open, we're building our launch team. This is a rare chance to join a cinema from day one and help shape what it becomes.”

A 10-screen cinema opened at the Crystal Peaks shopping centre, just over the border between Sheffield and Derbyshire, in May 1988. It was a popular attraction for many north Derbyshire residents before it was shut down in 2003.

A licence application, submitted on June 10, revealed that the company which is bringing the cinema to the site is Premiere Property Ltd, whose registered office is in London.

It also reveals that Premiere wanted to be able to show films from 9am until 11pm every day of the week.

The centre had a cinema from 1988 until 2003 and news of its return sparked excitement last year.

When completed, it will have four screens with between 55 and 71 seats.

It will have two screens upstairs, in what was Clarks shoes and two below, in what was originally Deep Pan Pizza and more recently Time Cafe.

When it opened in 1988, the 10-screen multiplex at Crystal Peaks one of the first cinemas if its kind in South Yorkshire and attracted visitors from across the city and beyond. But it closed in 2003.

Last year, Crystal Peaks manager Lee Greenwood said a cinema had remained among the top demands from visitors ever since.
