End of an era as sign removed at beloved bar on Sheffield party street
Pub was once popular for sports events
For more than 30 years it was a popular Sheffield city centre pub.

But now the sign has been taken down at the former Walkabout pub on Carver Street, follow its recent closure, marking the end of an era for the city’s party people.
The venue was traditionally popular as a venue for watching major sporting occasions, but will be lying empty during the coming FIFA 26 World Cup.
The venue, owned by the pub company Stonegate, was in a historic church near the junction with West Street.

But the company told The Star the Walkabout had stopped being commercially viable.
A Stonegate Group spokesperson told The Star: “The hospitality sector continues to face significant challenges.
“After careful consideration, and despite our best efforts, the site is no longer commercially viable and we have taken the difficult decision to close the Walkabout Sheffield.
“We would like to thank our hard-working team for their commitment and dedication. We would also like to thank our guests and the local community for their support over the years.”
