Video: Uproar over speed bumps at Drakehouse Retail Park damaging cars and causing gridlock
“Like hitting a decent sized curb even at rolling speed”
Drivers claim new speed bumps at a Sheffield retail park are damaging cars, hurting people and causing gridlock.
Scores of furious customers have complained about sleeping policemen at Drakehouse Retail Park, which they say are too steep to go over slowly - but cause a big bang at any other speed.

It is believed they were installed to deter boy racers who use the huge car park after hours.
In August, 500 vehicles gathered there for a car meet.
But some shoppers have said they are boycotting the popular site until the speed bumps are removed.
On the S12 Community Facebook page, Peter Fereday said: “I'd heard about them and finally experienced them today. Not good, like hitting a decent sized curb even at rolling speed.
“Absolutely guaranteed to wreck a car’s suspension or even worse, no more Drakehouse visits for me I'm afraid.”

Joe Barras agreed.
“Shocking humps, no need for them to be that big and nasty. All it’s doing is causing gridlock due to everyone driving so slowly over them, especially over weekends,” he said.
Julie Shaw was among those who said the bumps hurt.
“They are way too high. Killed my back driving over them,” she explained.
Lynne Barnes Riley added: “If you slow down you can’t get over them. It’s ridiculous, what idiot thought of them?”
Alex Calton said he was worried about loading his car up.
“All good until you nip into Wickes for a bit of sand and cement and then all of a sudden you snap every spring on your car trying to get out of the car park,” he said.
But Annabelle Cooper saw the humour in the situation.
“I was wondering why everyone was taking ages……hit the first one and ended up inside Pets at Home,” she joked.
Jeffrey Grant said he was well aware of the reason for the humps.
“If anybody went near Drakehouse in the evenings you would know why the speed bumps are there. It's like the film Fast and the Furious, like a boy racer track.
“It wouldn't be long before someone got killed and it wasn't nice for the night workers that work there.”
Smith Gail agreed.
“It had to be done, morons were speeding around the car park, night after night, you could hear them in Waterthorpe.”
“The gate had to stay open, because the businesses at Drakehouse, accept deliveries through the night.”
“Been there today, I didn't even know they had been made bigger. Go at a normal speed and no problem,” she said.
Frank Sayles suggested asolution.
“I bet 80 percent of everyone who goes up there lives within walking distance. Take a bus, leave cars at home unless absolutely necessary.”
Owner of the site, Hines UK, was approached for comment.
