Sometimes referred to as ‘Meadowhall’s little sister’, Crystal Peaks actually opened two years before its bigger sibling.
For better or for worse, Crystal Peaks has changed a lot over the years, for example it no longer has shops such as Toymaster and The Fast Lane, which enjoyed success in the 1980s and 1990s.
While in more recent times it’s also waved goodbye to shops like Mothercare and Argos stores, with plans in place to potentially build yet another padel court, amid the sport’s incredible surge in popularity in the Steel City.
But what do the people of Sheffield think is missing at Crystal Peaks and how would they improve it? We asked Star readers their thoughts on our Facebook page and these are the suggestions that they came up with.

1. Primark
Many shoppers have called for a new Primark to be built in Crystal Peaks. Sarah Havenhand said: "Primark so I don’t have to be dragged into Meadowhell - could be on Drakehouse." | Local Library

2. A new cinema
Crystal Peaks hasn't had a cinema since The AMC cinema (pictured here), which later closed in March 2003 before being demolished two years later. However, many have welcomed the idea of the area having a cinema again. Robbie Lucas said: "Not a shop but it's missing the new cinema that was due to open "late" 2025." | Picture Sheffield

In a similar theme, Sandie Birbeck said the area could benefit from more entertainment offerings such as Roxy Ball Room, which offers activities like mini-golf, shuffleboard and pool tables. | Local Library
