Sheffield shops: New launch date for Fargate super-bins as shoppers wedge rubbish into cracks

Sheffield City Council has announced a new launch date for underground super-bins, as people looking for somewhere to dump their rubbish stuff it into cracks around the new containers.

The authority says a specialist lifting machine is due on Fargate this month.

But they are neeed now according to Star reader Len Sims because shoppers wedging rubbish into gaps around the new bins are “making the place look really ugly”.

They require a bespoke vehicle and lifting equipment when they are emptied

Last month, the authority said the vehicle had arrived but was having fabrication works and safety testing.

The revamp of Fargate included new paving, flowerbeds and benches. It was declared complete in April.
