In a statement, the company said: “After careful planning following Government guidance of Public Health England we have decided to re-open our takeaways at both Whitbys.

“We will be open 12-7.30pm, seven days a week.

“We would prefer our customers to use our telephone ordering service where possible to order and pay over the phone. You will then be given a time slot to collect you items this will keep any queuing to a minimum.

“If you are not able to make a telephone order you are welcome to come down and queue so long as you respect the social distancing measures which have been put in place to keep our staff and customers safe at all times.

“It is preferable that contactless payments are taken where possible
