Long-closed Sheffield bank to be at the centre of new restaurant plan

Bank closed several years ago

A long-closed Sheffield bank building looks set for a new life as a restaurant.

The former Barclays Bank on Middlewood Road, close to Hillsborough Corner, has been closed for six years, having shut in a wave of closures in 2020.

But now a new use for the site is finally emerging, with a planning application sent into Sheffield Council which would see it transformed into a restaurant or cafe, with flats above.

Plans which have now been drawn up and accompany the planning application show how the layout in the new restaurant would appear.

The drawings by Time Architects depict five tables, as well as seating up against the front window, and a kitchen area.
