Ice Sheffield closed as power cut leads to cancellations at popular venue
“Thankfully we have managed to save our ice”
A popular Sheffield ice skating rink has been closed for more than 24 hours now following a power cut.
Ice Sheffield originally announced it would have to close shortly after 10am on Tuesday, October 6, as electricity and phone lines went down at the venue on Coleridge Road.
A day later and services continue to be affected, with management having to cancel all sessions in the meantime.

“We’re incredibly sorry for the disruption, but thankfully we have managed to save our ice,” an announcement on Facebook adds.
“Our team is now working hard to restore power to the rest of the building, so please bear with us a little longer.”
The team said they will be in touch with anyone whose sessions have been cancelled due to the disruptions and hope to rearrange all training sessions once problems are fixed.
However, they have warned that response times may be slow as they are having to work on computers at the nearby English Institute of Sport.
The statement goes on to say: “ Our team is working incredibly hard behind the scenes. We currently have no power at Ice Sheffield, but thankfully EIS has a couple of computers available, allowing a small team to continue contacting customers and helping wherever possible.
“Due to these limited resources, please be aware that enquiries, queries and emails may take a couple of days to receive a response.
“We really appreciate your patience and understanding while we work through this.”
