But now he has closed the city centre store to concentrate on his shop on Abbeydale Road, near Nether Edge.

Dan has placed a notice in the window, describing an “awesome” two years at Leah’s Yard, but said they had outgrown the space.

He said he would now be looking at re-opening all the rooms at the Abbeydale Road shop he has run in parallel with the the city centre site.

As well as art and prints, the Abbeydale Road shop will also sell records and clothes in the basement. There will also be a gallery space with art, antiques and books, as well as a kitchen and homeware room, and a workshop room to hold creative classes, as well as toys and plants.

He said that he had received a lot of footfall at his city centre site, but felt returning to Abbeydale Road was the best thing for his business.

He said: “I’m sorry to be leaving, but my Abbeydale Road site has Best Boy bagels opposite and that area is getting better and better, plus it’s half the price for five rooms and two outdoor spaces. It’s a vibrant area.

“We’ve moving because we need to expand, and I’ve only got one room here.”

Gravel Pit is described as an independent homeware shop selling a carefully curated range of native and tropical house plants

They compliment these with a large selection of handmade and internationally sourced pots, planters and terrariums.

They also offer an extensive selection of prints, sculptures and original artwork by local and international artists and creators, along with a wide range of music and art related books and fanzines, toys, and curios.
