Many, especially small firms, may try to go the long way round so as not to cross the boundary. Whatever happens it will be a huge, city-wide shock set to create a new network of rat runs.
Here's a helpful list of last-second turns for those determined to swerve the dreaded CAZ when it comes in on Monday, February 27.
Initially, it is forecast to catch about 2,000 drivers and rake in £23,000 every day, or £8.46m-a-year. These vehicles will be charged: 'polluting' heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), light goods vehicles (LGVs), vans, buses, coaches and taxis. Private cars and motorbikes will not be charged. The council was given £24m to help firms buy newer vehicles, or convert old ones to electric. Details here.

5. Granville Road
Your only option on Granville Road is turn turn left on to Queens Road - every other exit on that roundabout will cost you money. Photo: .

6. Brook Hill.jpg
Brook Hill, on the left, and Bolsover Street are the only exits off Brook Hill roundabout that avoid the Clean Air Zone. One leads to Walkley the other to Broomhill and other destinations. Going all the way round the roundabout is free. Photo: Brook Hill/Bolsover Street

7. Attercliffe Road/Savile Street
Approaching Savile Street from Attercliffe Road is perilous. This is the last turn off - a sort of U-turn on to Savile Street before hitting the CAZ on the inner ring road and the Wicker. There are various garages and offices you could left turn into before turning round. Just remember, the old railway line and Wicker bridges that carry it is your boundary. Go under them and you’re in the chargeable zone. Photo: .

8. Furnival Road from Effingham Street
Effingham Street on to Furnival Road is another, quieter, approach from Attercliffe on to the inner ring road. But with the railway bridge the boundary, your last escape is a left turn on to Sussex Street. Photo: .
