Danny Röhl's side earned a hard-earned draw in the FA Cup on Friday night, rallying late to force a replay with Coventry City. It stopped a run of back-to-back defeats in the league - but with some of Wednesday's most impressive performances coming at Hillsborough this season, there is optimism the Owls can grab a win over a Hornets side despite their status as the sixth-best performing away side in the division.
Players were rested and cup-tied for the Coventry clash and should come back in, while there are big decisions to be made all over the field as they look to freshen-up their survival ambition. Here's the side we've plumped for heading into tonight's battle with Watford.
5. LB - Marvin Johnson
In all honesty, it seems a lot like he's going to stay put despite that Ipswich interest. He's been outstanding up and down that left in recent weeks and has been a revelation on the left of the four.
6. CM - Liam Palmer
If they are to go with a three-man midfield, Momo Diaby may well be seen as the sexier choice here, but the fact is that Palmer has been really very good in his midfield renaissance and Wednesday's record with him in there is excellent.
7. CM - Will Vaulks
Over-cautious throwing both Palmer and Vaulks in a three-man midfield? Perhaps, you could easily tuck Josh Windass into the top of the triangle and have Barry Bannan alongside one of the holders. We've gone for Vaulks on the basis of scrap.
8. CM - Barry Bannan
At the centre of a lot of what Wednesday do well, Bannan has shown himself able to compete with the cut-and-thrust of Rohl-ball and does so well. Where he plays will be interesting and often displays a hint on how the Owls will go about things on the night. Photo: Steve Ellis
