"And at the end of it, United actually finished further clear of third than when they started.

"There was frustration and even anger, Daniel Lafferty revealed afterwards, about the manner of the goals conceded but I think he's being slightly harsh, and surely they'll be happy to have put a bit more daylight between themselves and Scunthorpe, who dropped to third after their defeat to Fleetwood this afternoon."
