Heckingbottom is expected to play either Chris Basham or Auston Trusty in Egan’s absence, rather than abandon the shape completely and return to a back four. Elsewhere he has decisions to make all over the field as the Blades look for their first win of the Premier League season, ahead of the upcoming international break.
With that in mind, we tasked our man to step into Heckingbottom’s shoes and select the side he would send out to face Marco Silva’s side at Craven Cottage tomorrow - do you agree, or what would you do differently?
9. Gus Hamer
Gets the nod over McAtee in my side because he has offered more this season by way of individual moments, with the Man City loanee still getting up to speed with regular Premier League action. But needs to be more careful in possession after his stray pass led to West Ham’s second last week
10. Oli McBurnie
One of the first names on the teamsheet at present, offering United some real height in both boxes. Drops deep so well to link the play, with Archer then tasked with playing on the shoulder and getting in behind
11. Cameron Archer
Now has real competition for his place with Rhian Brewster fit again and Benie Traore scoring in midweek for the U21s. Has looked decent with his limited service but may need to start creating – and finishing - his own chances if United can’t supply him on a regular basis
