Rotherham United: Huddersfield Town all-clear for Lee Frecklington as Millers hold back Dexter Blackstock

Captain Lee Frecklington is ready for his second start in three days after his recovery from a calf injury, says Rotherham United boss Alan Stubbs.

The Millers are in Championship action at high-flying Huddersfield Town tomorrow night following Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Cardiff City and Frecklington is in line to lead the side again.

The midfield man played the entire game against the Bluebirds after being named in the starting 11 for the first time since the opening-day draw with Wolves.

“I see no reason why he can’t do three games in two days,” said Stubbs. “He’s had a rehab programme at St George’s (National Football Centre), a week of training after that, he’s come on against Nottingham Forest and Blackburn, then he’s had a full 90 minutes against Cardiff.

“He’s come through those with no problem whatsoever. I don’t envisage any problems. He’s a fit lad anyway, one of the fittest, if not the fittest, in the group.”

Rotherham picked up no new injury worries against Cardiff and have central midfielder Tom Adeyemi available again for the clash at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Stubbs says he is considering making changes, although striker Dexter Blackstock will have to settle for a place on the bench again after making his debut as a substitute last Saturday as he builds up his fitness.

“I still don’t think he’s at the stage where he’s ready to start,” said Stubbs. “He’s getting better as the days go by.

“Last Saturday and him being on the bench is a sign of that. He has a better chance of a start on Saturday (v Newcastle). If not then, then after the international break.”
