Former Tennessee State Tigers forward) Thornton, aged 27, who was signed earlier this week, will be the Sharks’ final signing for the 2016/17 season.

“We now have the strength in depth that we’ve wanted. “We are strong in every position.”

Lyons also said that Thornton will bring all the right attributes needed by his BBL side.

“I like the fact that he has got some experience, (Draft: 2013: Idaho Stampede (D League, 2 rd) he can score in the key and from the outside,” said Lyons.

“He’s physical, and that adds more dynamic that we have had at times but not consistently, especially with Tony [Wroblicky] out.

“I think he’ll give that little bit more depth in the front court so that we can play a bit more aggressively and really play hard.”

Thornton’s arrival and subsequent completion of the Sharks roster also saw the departure of guard Cardell McFarland.

“Cardell was brought in temporarily, as injuries during pre-season meant we had to make a decision, and he came in and did a great job for us – I wish him nothing but the best,” commented Lyons.

Coach Lyons also provided an update on the Sharks’ injury list, a major problem so far, which should lessen in the coming weeks.

“Jordan Davis is now back in training so he is getting closer.

“We are not sure on Tony Wroblicky physically, as yet, but mentally he is ready for when he does come back.”
