Teen, 17, charged with Sheffield murder

A 17-year-old has been charged with murder following the death of a man after an early morning assault outside a Sheffield supermarket last month.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Sheffield Youth Court on Friday charged with the murder of 40-year-old Ahmed Sayeed Adan.

Mr Adan died in hospital nine days after being attacked in Spital Hill.

A forensic post-mortem examination concluded that Mr Adan died as a result of head injuries.

He has been remanded in custody to attend Sheffield Crown Court on Friday 6 January.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: “Mr Adan was reportedly assaulted outside Emins Supermarket in Spital Hill, Sheffield, at around 3.45am on Sunday 20 November.

“He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he died on Tuesday November 29.”
