A man has been jailed for 17 months for mowing down a petrol station attendant after he stole fuel and drove off.

Scott Dearing, aged 30, of no fixed abode, drove into Michelle Carr as he attempted to flee from a petrol station in Barnsley without paying for £120 worth of fuel.

His actions on the forecourt of the Jet petrol station, Park Road, Barnsley, on December 4 were captured on CCTV.

Miss Carr escaped with minor injuries despite being thrown over the bonnett of Dearing's car.

Dearing pleaded guilty to four counts of theft, two counts of driving without due care and attention, one count of dangerous driving and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
