Shoppers are being turned away from a South Yorkshire supermarket this afternoon after a power cut.

The Aldi store in Archer Road, Sheffield is currently closed to customers after the blackout earlier this afternoon.

An eyewitness, who was among those turned away from the supermarket said: "Shoppers are being turned away.

"Anyone who enters the car park is being met by a member of staff telling them that there has been a power cut and the store is closed."

It is understood attempts are being made to restore power supplies but the supermarket is expected to be closed for several hours.

Other businesses in the area are not believed to have been affected by the cut.
