Sheffield charity Sheffcare joins national care home crisis campaign
The #FixCareForAll campaign was launched by MHA, the largest charity care provider for older people in the UK.
Now Sheffcare - the charity that has a chain of ten care homes across Sheffield - is joining their campaign for an adult social care system that meets the needs of Britain today.

The campaign is urging the government to work towards a new social care system that is both fully resourced and has a fair price for care .
It is also calling for a national workforce strategy that values the sector’s workers, transparency and accountability delivered through financial regulation, care which is co-produced and co-designed by older people and the sector and more seamless pathways and collaboration between health and social care.
Sheffcare chief executive Claire Rintoul said: “Last year we saw people out on their doorsteps and showing their support by clapping for carers.

As well as addressing the industry’s staffing crisis, Claire added that the campaign was also calling for changes to the whole care system and the way services are accessed.
“These are issues that affected families in all parts of the UK, made worse by 20 years of broken promises topped off by the pandemic and the very serious affect that had on all our workers.
“I know that every member of the Sheffcare team believes in the work they are doing and that our residents and families appreciate that.

“Let’s not forget that the NHS was set up to provide care from the cradle to the grave and after the year the care home system has just been through, we know more than ever before just how much support our residents and workers both need and deserve.
“There’s a template email to MPs ready to be filled in - it’s two minutes of your time that really could help make a massive difference.”
