Harvey, who went to Sheffield Hallam University and lives in the south of Sheffield, said: “I went down an academic route of GCSEs, sixth form and then university because that’s all I had been sold - there weren’t many practical options highlighted then.

“I do encourage young people to explore a business concept in school or after finishing school, your younger years are often a really good time to come up with an idea or a product.

“Setting it up as a side hustle is a great way to get started and there are so many things you can do from home now.”

Buzz of Sheffield theatres

I vividly remember going to the theatre for the first time when I was about five or six, my

grandparents and parents used to take me to see shows.

I got out of the habit in my early teens but when I started my degree in business and

enterprise at Hallam they used to do a ‘live for £5’ ticket deal for their students so that’s what

got me into going again. I still go most months.

Sheffield always gets excellent stage shows which I think is partly down to it having the best

theatre complex outside of London, something we should all be really proud of.

Some of the best productions I have seen in recent years are Everybody is Talking About

Jamie and Standing At The Sky’s Edge which were really wonderful for anyone with a

connection to Sheffield to watch.

I have spent a lot of time there and also love Tudor Square, there is always a good buzz

about the area.

Eating out

People often compare Sheffield unfavourably to Manchester or Leeds. But if you look around

there are a lot of new independent food and drink places that are opening up which is so

exciting for us as a city.

At the moment I love exploring Kelham Island to see the latest additions to the food scene

and Abbeydale Road is especially varied when it comes to eating out.

Currently I think my favourite place to eat out is the Cutlery Works food hall in S3. I took my

mum there for a meal as she hadn’t been before. It’s my ‘go to’ place when meeting groups

because everyone can eat something different in terms of cuisine while socialising in the

same space which is very special.

In the city centre I also love The Furnace just behind The Moor which is always busy. The

cocktails are great and I really recommend the pie and mash!

Lights, camera, action

One of the best things to do in Sheffield is see a good film, there’s a lot of choice when it

comes to cinemas.

I go to The Showroom a lot, I love that it has such a mix of people in there at any one time,

from people co-working together to customers visiting the cafe.

The range of films they put on is incredible and it is a great event space too.

One of my favourite memories there was during the Everybody’s Talking About Jamie

premiere. It was so thrilling to be part of a night where it felt like the world was watching

Sheffield!

Dog walking spots

The best parks in Sheffield for me are Endcliffe and Millhouses parks. Both of them are top

options for dog walking. I have a border collie called Nelly and she approves of these two

parks as well.

What is great to see at the moment is how much Sheffield parks are getting new attractions

such as coffee vans or the new boats in Millhouses.

Further afield we do rate a trip out to Bakewell or the nearby Monsal Trail for a real breath of

fresh Peak District air.
