A section of the M1 is closed after a crash this afternoon.

Three out of four lanes are currently closed on the motorway’s southbound carriageway between junction 28 (Alfreton) and junction 29 (Chesterfield/Mansfield) following the collision, which involved a car and a lorry.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service – which attended the crash – said: “The M1 between junction 28 and junction 29 will remain closed.”

A Highways England spokesperson added: “Please plan for delays and consider an alternate route.”
