A man is under arrest after a stabbing on a Sheffield estate today.

Armed police officers involved in pulling over and boxing in a car on a busy Sheffield road arrested a 36-year-old man over a stabbing in Holbourne Grove, High Green.

He was arrested after a taxi was stopped on the A61 Halifax Road, Grenoside.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "Police are investigating a reported assault in the High Green area of Sheffield that is believed to have taken place earlier today.

"Emergency services were called at around 11am this morning to reports of a man injured in Holbourne Grove, High Green.

"He has been taken to hospital with suspected stab injuries, which at this time are believed to be minor.

"A local man was arrested by officers in the Grenoside area and is currently in police custody."
