Girl with knife wanted over attempted off-licence raid in Barnsley

A girl armed with a knife held up an off-licence in Barnsley.

She walked into the shop in Station Road, Royston, and demanded cash but left empty-handed after being challenged by staff.

Detectives investigating the incident have released an E-fit of the suspect, who was between 16 and 18 years old and had shoulder length red hair.

She was slim and wore an off-white long sleeved top, tight, light grey trousers and a white head scarf.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "It is reported that the girl demanded cash from the till before she fled the shop empty handed when she was challenged by a staff member.

"It is believed that the girl was carrying a knife. No one was injured during the incident.

"Officers investigating the matter have now released an E-fit image and are asking for your help to identify the girl."
