The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office have this morning confirmed that they are offering support to the family of a Doncaster woman who has been left seriously injured after a 15 stone gas canister fell on her during a holiday to Greece.

She was then airlifted to a hospital in Athens for emergency surgery to try and remove some of the fluid on her brain, and is currently in a coma.

The 24-year-old has spent the last six days fighting for her life but is now believed to be showing some slight signs of improvement.

A Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokesperson said: “We are in contact with the family of a British national who is in hospital in Athens, and will continue to offer our support.”
