A bag containing 42 wraps of crack cocaine was found by a member of the public on a Sheffield street.
South Yorkshire Police said the bag was found in Oxclose Park Road, Halfway, over the weekend.
A police check on the contents revealed that the bag contained 42 individual wraps of crack cocaine.
Inspector Jason Booth said: "This weekend an honest member of the public contacted us to say that they had found this bag they felt suspicious around the Oxclose area of Halfway.
"We recovered the package which upon examination contained 42 wraps of crack cocaine.
"If you are the loser and would like to claim it we would be happy to speak with you...that would be formally under caution and we will be providing free bed and breakfast along with free transport to court."
He added: “Clearly had the drugs been picked up by a child or younger adult who were not aware of what harm these drugs cause, the result could have been very serious and I thank the honest member of the public who did the right thing in handing them in to the police.
"It’s also pleasing to see that these items have been removed from wider circulation so that they cannot cause further harm.
"Anyone with information about those involved in drugs supply can call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 55511.”
