Jurors in the rape trial of footballer Ched Evans have retired to consider the verdict.

Evans, aged 27, is accused of raping a 19-year-old woman in a hotel bedroom on a night out in North Wales in May 2011.

He admits having sex with the woman but insists it was consensual.

The prosecution case is that she was too drunk to consent.

The woman went back to the hotel with Evans' friend, Clayton McDonald, who sent the footballer a text saying 'I've got a bird'.

Evans, who plays for Chesterfield and used to play for Sheffield United, let himself into the hotel room and had sex with woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

The trial continues.
