A reward is being offered for information to help detectives trace robbers armed with machetes who struck at a farmhouse on the edge of Sheffield.
Crimestoppers is offering £5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the raid in West Handley, in which a woman in her mid-sixties was ambushed in her farmhouse yard.
She was confronted by three men, who were armed with machetes, and forced back into her house, which was ransacked while the raiders threatened her and her husband.
A large amount of cash and jewellery were stolen along with 18 shotguns and a large quantity of shotgun cartridges in the raid on Tuesday, March 14.
The couple were locked in their farmhouse gun room before the robbers left the property, which is close to Marsh Lane and Eckington.
Derbyshire Police said both the man and woman were injured during the incident on and required hospital treatment.
Lydia Patsalides, East Midlands Regional Manager for Crimestoppers, said: “This violent burglary was immensely distressing for the victims. Not only was cash and valuable jewellery stolen, but the theft of such a large number of shotguns is a serious cause for concern.
“These people need to be found and the shotguns traced, before any further harm can be done.
