A well-known bar in Sheffield city centre has closed for a makeover.

All Bar One, on Leopold Street, shut on March 1 – but bosses have assured customers that the measure is only temporary, as a refurbishment is on the way.

“We’re just letting you know that All Bar One Sheffield will be closing for a makeover," an email to regulars said. “But don't worry, we’ll be back soon and ready to help you create more amazing memories.”

There are 50 All Bar One sites in the UK. The first opened in Sutton, Greater London, in 1994 – the concept for the venues was intended to be ‘female-friendly’ with an open-plan interior.

The chain’s operator, Mitchells and Butlers plc, was approached for comment about its plans for the Sheffield bar’s revamp.

The firm also owns the Browns brand – the Browns brasserie in Sheffield, beside the Peace Gardens, has just been refurbished too.
