The debate over when is or isn’t too early to put your Christmas decorations up rages through workplaces and homes in the lead up to the festive period, but not many talk about when we take them down.

The general concensus for when decorations should come down is January 6, which many of our readers also agree with. Ann Mc Hugh said her decorations are usually up “until December 8 and always down on or after January 6 since I was a child…was known to me then as Little Christmas Day”.

Sarah Nuttall agreed: “I always leave mine up until the 5 or 6 of January, I always worry it’s bad luck to take it down before… the problem is I’m so sick of them by then!”

Though not everyone is on the same page though.

Loraine Ellis said her decorations will be down on “New Year’s Day as I don’t like coming home from work and having to do it”.

Most incredibly, Janice Lavine said her decoration stay up until “February sometime – or March if I’m busy”.

Wendy Cartwright said she always leaves hers up until New Year’s Day.

“Always leave mine up till the 1st January; my birthday is 31st December. I always loved the fact our house was trimmed up for my birthday, still do.”
