Myers Grove opened in about 1960 as the first purpose-built comprehensive school in Sheffield. It later merged with Wisewood School Community Sports College to become Forge Valley Community School in 2011.

Former boxer, Johnny Nelson, launched the new Myers Grove School magazine on ThursdayJune 25, 2009 in conjunction with BiG: Make it Your Business and Wisewood School. Local businesses and student contributors attended the launch of the magazine which was produced by staff and students to capture the enterprising and entrepreneurial aspects of the school.
