Over 100 Sheffield University students test positive for coronavirus in a DAY as cases pass 500

More than 500 University of Sheffield students have now tested positive for coronavirus, after a record 109 cases were confirmed in a single day.

A total of 583 students and six members of staff at the university have now tested positive for Covid-19 since the new academic year began.

Yesterday, Monday, October 5, was the first time the number of daily cases has exceeded 100.

The University of Sheffield says that when someone tests positive for Covid-19 it follows ‘detailed processes and procedures’, which including tracking any contacts, informing relevant staff and students, and cleaning affected areas where appropriate.
