Westlife honoured after record 38th performance at Sheffield arena

Westlife have been recognised for their long-standing connection with Sheffield after playing at the city’s arena for the 38th time.
The pop group received Utilita Arena Sheffield’s Steel Star award on Wednesday night, placing them among just a few artists who have performed at the venue more than 10 times.
Personalised Sheffield Steelers shirts were also presented to the band to commemorate their history with the city and its audiences.
Westlife first appeared at Sheffield Arena in 1998 as support for Boyzone. They have since become the venue’s most frequent performers.
Their latest appearance formed part of Westlife 25: The Anniversary World Tour, which celebrates 25 years of the group’s music with some of their biggest hits and fan favourites.
Dom Stokes, General Manager at Utilita Arena Sheffield, said: “Westlife have been coming to Sheffield for many years, so it’s great to be able to celebrate their 38th show here.

"The Steel Star recognises artists who have performed at the Arena more than 10 times, and Westlife are very deserving recipients.

"We also wanted to give the band something from Sheffield to mark the occasion, so the personalised Steelers shirts were a great way to do that. And with show number 39 still to come, there’s plenty more to look forward to.”
Westlife will return to Utilita Arena Sheffield on November 2 for their 39th show.
