'Unforgettable' night as Sheffield theatre group showcases work
This was the red carpet moment when Sheffield theatre group members showcased their work at an iconic cinema.
Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Coun Safiya Saeed, welcomed guests to the sold-out event at The Showroom cinema, organised by Soap Box Collective at arts charity Stand & Be Counted Theatre.
Guests were able to pose for photographs on a red carpet before watching a selection of vibrant short films and performances made by the group.
Rosie MacPherson, joint CEO of Stand & Be Counted Theatre, said: “We were blown away by the creativity of the group’s work, and its powerful impact, at Soapbox Spotlight.
“Their films and performances touched on music, spiritual journeys and the meaning of home.
“The audience showed their appreciation with huge rounds of applause; it was an unforgettable night.”
Stand & Be Counted Theatre is the UK’s first theatre group of sanctuary, operating in Sheffield, Bradford and Oldham.
Its Soap Box group for adults seeking sanctuary produces inspirational, creative work across diverse art forms.
