Two Sheffield schools secure bumper magazine delivery in national reading drive
Pupils at two Sheffield schools are set to enjoy hundreds of free publications after winning a nationwide competition to promote reading for pleasure.

Broomhill Infant School and Totley All Saints CE Primary School were both named among 20 winners chosen from towns and cities across the UK as part of the inaugural National Magazine Day. Each school will receive 250 magazines for its classrooms and library, while the families who put forward the nominations will each receive a £100 Amazon voucher.
More than 10,000 families took part in the contest, which forms part of a wider campaign uniting literacy charities and publishers such as Immediate, DC Thomson, Egmont, Kennedy and Future to distribute more than 70,000 magazines through schools, food banks and community hubs.

Ali Foster-Grose, Director of Community & Events at Immediate, said: “This first year of National Magazine Day has shown what’s possible when the entire magazine community comes together with a shared purpose. The response from families has been extraordinary, and the support from publishers - from household names to brilliant new indie titles - demonstrates the impact we can have when we work collectively. Our ambition is for National Magazine Day to grow year on year, reaching even more children and helping to make reading accessible, enjoyable and part of everyday life.”
